One-Of-One Customs

One-of-one pieces are specially-made custom wearables that have been upcycled and re-fashioned from thrifted or reclaimed garments. While Thread By Dawn is mostly a retail producer, recycling clothing is an important goal for the brand.

I started out in the garment industry working in high-volume decoration shops and witnessed first-hand the scale of waste created by the industry. It quickly became a personal mission to do my part in taking whatever dent I could out of the amount of clothing that gets tossed into landfills, often with little to no use. Re-fashioning misprints, upcycling thrifted or thrown-away clothes, and garment repair is a natural avenue for any decorator or garment production shop to explore when it comes to limiting footprint and reducing waste, so it's important to me for Thread By Dawn to have that as part of it's mission.

Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind, often requiring dozens of hours to produce. Most of them fit the theme Thread By Dawn's retail products, ie. horror, music, and tongue-in-cheek humor, and often feature patches and designs from the main catalog, although some can come from completely different directions and styles.
